London 2016

My first international trip was a success! Spent 5 amazing days in London and it was really hard to not come back to the states. Didn’t get to see and do everything I wanted but we did hit all the nerdy things of course.

Day 1: 8/10/16

Made it to Madrid where we had a few hours to kill before hopping on a plane to London. Once we arrived to our final destination at Heathrow Airport, my sister met up with us. Keep in mind she has been in London for about 2 weeks so she knows the ins and outs. She was our personal tour guide. We stayed at a hostel and we were on the basement floor just like my sister. It was a six person bunk beds room.  We were all jetlagged so we didn’t do much except go to “Pasticcio Cafe” for dinner. Nothing like a good pasta dish to welcome you to London.

Day 2: 8/11/16

Woke up early to get breakfast at “Sprinkles” which is a gelato place that also does breakfast. Rode the underground to get to the London Eye.

London Eye – The weather started out cloudy with a slight drizzle before we got on the London Eye and then it cleared up the moment we got off. The London Eye is the giant ferris wheel that will do a full rotation so that you can see the London cityscape.

Stopped at a souvenir stand that sold all kinds of t-shirts, hoodies, keychains, and other novelty things. Walked around a bit and explored Whitehall Gardens. Lots of cool plants and trees. Passed by the Globe Theater. Ate at a restaurant called “The Real Greek” for authentic Greek food. Walked across the Millennium Bridge. Entered the main lobby of St. Paul’s Cathedral just to say we were there. Headed back to the hostel to get ready for the play. Italian was what was for dinner and we ended up at a restaurant called “Limencello”.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part 1 – Seeing pure magic happen before your eyes. The play starts with the 19 years later epilogue. Many cool visual effects in regards to costume changes, set changes, and etc. Read More

Day 3: 8/12/16

Another early morning where we stopped at a wonderful coffee place called “Cafe Nero”. It instantly became one of our favorite spots to get yummy drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. The goal was to go to Madame Tussaud’s to see my beloved Benedict Cumberbatch wax figure but since the line was so long we decided against it.

Sherlock Holmes Museum – My friends and I are all Sherlock fans so it was definitely on our to do list to go to 221B Baker Street!

My sister was told by a local cab driver that “The Sea Shell of Lisson Grove” has the best fish and chips in London. So we thought why not?! We should definitely try it because when in London…. And the verdict is that the fish and chips were the freshest and most delicious that I have ever had. When we wrapped up our late lunch we headed back to the hostel to get ready for Part 2 of the play.
